SYNOPSIS
Wyatt Banks is ready to give one woman the world. Unfortunately, his job as a cop tends to interfere with other goals. When Wyatt is sent deep undercover to investigate a sex slave ring, he doesn’t have time to do anything but focus on staying alive in a dark and dangerous underworld.
Wyatt isn’t alone though in his quest to save the women that are being sold into sexual slavery.
His partner, FBI Agent Andrea Somerville, is immersed just as deeply as he is, and she’s the bait to lure the sex slavers out into the open, as she poses as an erotic dancer in an attempt to snare the enemy. But danger runs as high as the sparks between them, and now Wyatt is caught between the job he loves and the woman he wants.
Wyatt isn’t alone though in his quest to save the women that are being sold into sexual slavery.
REVIEWS
Laura's Review
Wyatt Banks sees most of his friends settling down and realizes he might be ready for that, too. But there is no woman in his life and since he is about to be loaned out to the Raleigh Police Department for a potentially long-term undercover assignment, his personal future is going to be at the mercy of his professional one. Enter his new partner, FBI agent Andrea Somerville, who is as career-minded as Wyatt. They are both there to do a job and move their respective careers forward, but they end up getting more than either one bargained for.
This is the fourth book in the Last Call series (prior books are On the Rocks, Make It a Double and Sugar on the Edge), but the first one I have read. Having no prior knowledge of the series or the characters, I had no problems reading this book – the core group of characters in this series are all reviewed and discussed in the prologue, so this book absolutely works as a standalone.
Wyatt is everything you’d want in a hot male lead….handsome and sexy and built, but also smart, intuitive and caring. And I loved the character of Andrea. She was very much Wyatt’s counterpart in every sense of the word. Even when the undercover op was over and the story turned to focus on their relationship, Andrea’s personality did not change - her feelings and wants and needs were just as important as Wyatt’s. I really liked that Andrea was a strong woman - she was never a damsel in distress or a whiny needy girl.
I think maybe I read too many suspense stories or watch too many crime shows, because I really expected someone or something from their undercover assignment to pop up in the third act and throw a wrench in the works somewhere, but that did not happen.
I really enjoyed this book and would like to go back and read the other books in the series. This is also my first Sawyer Bennett book - I really enjoyed her writing style and look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
Patti's Review
With A Twist…The fourth book in the Last Call Series was just as good if not better than the first three in my opinion. I love how Sawyer Bennett writes the stories of the friends' interactions with each other and how they all care about each other. It reminds me of growing up in a shore town hanging out with my friends.
In this installment, Wyatt is longing for that ever-lasting love, but has not found the right woman yet. Knowing that he is being loaned out to another police force for an undercover assignment, he puts it out of his mind for the time being. But as fate would have it… you do not control when and whom you fall in love with.
Andrea is struggling after a being dumped by her fiancé because she would not withdraw her application to the BRIU for the FBI, her dream job since she was a child. She is sent on an undercover assignment as she waits for the answer to her interviews. But again, fate steps in and again you do not control when and whom you fall in love with.
This story has all the suspense and hot male alpha sexiness that you would expect from Sawyer Bennett, with lots of romance and fun mixed in. With A Twist can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the others in the series too! You will not be disappointed.
